Hanoi Old Quarter
Dates: 18-21 Apr
Back to South East Asia. My first stop in Vietnam was Hanoi, naturally I chose to stay in the Old Quarter. I spent 4 days in Hanoi before setting off on a road trip to Sapa. I did initially plan on driving from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh but I stupidly didn’t check visa requirements and only got 15 days on arrival rather than the 30 that I thought I was going to get… So I decided to stay in the north instead and do a couple of road trips on a motorbike I rented from Tigit, who I’d fully recommend using – the Honda Blade I rented from them was in amazing condition, much better than the rentals that you see dotted around the streets.
Hanoi is a crazy place, the Old Quarter is bursting with motorbikes to the point that crossing the road is a serious ordeal, but great fun at the same time. It’s beautiful though, the buildings there have so much character to them and there is a great spot to the west of the Old Quarter area where there is a community built up around an old train track. I could spend days on end taking pictures around Hanoi Old Quarter and have something new to shoot every day.
